Maria João is the person behind the friendly and warm voice that answers STA's phone calls. Anyone who calls is greeted by an “STA, good morning! This is Maria João!”, and if you visit our facilities, her amiable presence at reception will be the very first thing you encounter.
Bruce Banner was exposed to heavy doses of gamma radiation and Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider. And so, two popular fictional superheroes were born.
Back in the real world, superhuman Maria João’s backstory is very similar. Her career at STA started in 2018 as a factory operator, but a work accident forced her to join the Human Resources team in 2019. What appeared to be a misfortune turned out to be an excellent opportunity for her to demonstrate her administrative skills, and then some.
Some say Maria João secretly has multiple sets of limbs and can teleport in the blink of an eye. How else could one person be attentively attending to guests at the factory one moment while simultaneously organising catering at a luncheon? All this while the reception desk was not left unattended for one second... I know, right?
Given her extraordinary talents as an event organiser, she is the first person we turn to for the preparation and coordination of all kinds of get-togethers: Christmas parties, themed lunches and dinners, or outdoor events. Recently, during the filming of our promotional video, her ever-present assistance to producers Micaela and Rúben, (who incidentally also has day jobs) impressed the visiting film director immensely. “How does she do that?”, he said while collecting his dropped jaw from the floor.
Her desire for professional growth is reflected in her enrolment for a Degree in Environmental Sciences, proving that it is never too late to chase and achieve dreams. She is creative, smart as a whip, never says “No” to a challenge, and always has her door open to help any STA family member.
This sums up our Maria João: she makes the impossible possible, turns adversity into an opportunity, always with a smile and a good mood. Man, we’re chuffed to call her “our” Maria João.
